A country, and a play, ten years in the making.

Starting at the age of 10, Jordan created hundreds of maps, building blueprints, portraits, and family trees of the imaginary nation of Bravislovia, a fractured former-Soviet republic on the Baltic Sea. The performance follows the life of the mercurial Isaac Nyakov, Jordan's alter-ego who lived a storied life as a fugitive poet before succumbing to the tyranny of a brutal regime. Employing dozens of childhood drawings, lush, cinematic backdrops and live narration, Bravislovia is a deeply personal and whimsical journey exploring the ability for imagination to overcome personal trauma.

The first workshop presentation of Bravislovia was staged at the 32nd Rhubarb! Festival at Buddies in Bad Times Theatre in Toronto from February 23-26, 2011.

A solo performance recounting the story of Peter Fechter, an 18-year old East German teen shot, and then left to lie in the Death Strip for fifty-two minutes until his death, while attempting to cross the Berlin Wall in 1972. Through precision choreography, a young performer re-creates Peter's final fiftytwo minutes on the Death Strip based on available documentation of the incident. An immersive soundscape weaves together the narratives of Peter's friends, family, and acquaintances, each shining light on the events leading to his decision to jump, and all culminating arrestingly in the moment of his death.

Being developed in co-operation with Buddies in Bad Times Theatre and 2b Theatre, with support from Volcano Theatre, Cabaret Company, Theatre Gargantua, Canadian Stage, and the Canada Council for the Arts.
